DARE 2007 Mock Accident : Wednesday, November 14th, 2007: The photos in this gallery were taken during a period of less than 1 hour. This scenario was a co-ordinated effort by the Schuylkill Haven Police Department, the Schuylkill Haven Fire Department, the Pottsville & Schuylkill Haven Lions Club Ambulance, the Schuylkill Haven School District and other volunteers. It's primary mission is to educate on the dangers of drinking and driving. Perhaps this made a difference in saving at least 1 premature death when these students become drivers. (We probably will never know.)

2007 Dancing in the Streets : Friday, September 7th, 2007: The Greater Schuylkill Haven Area Business Association invited the Penn State Schuylkill Students to an evening of dinner and dancing. Approximately 125 students attended and had a great time enjoying the music of DJ Ray. Note: This was a twilight event and I was constantly working against the lack of light. So some of the photos are not my best, but I included them as so many people were having fun.

2007 Baber Celebration Day : Sunday, September 2nd, 2007: The entrance to Charles Baber Cemetery is located at 14th & West Market St. This is an annual event to celebrate the largest greenspace in the city of Pottsville. Some of the trees are over 100 years old, others have been carefully selected to replace the elms and others that needed to be replaced within the last few years. It is a great place to walk or jog. This day was a celebration with Pottsville's Third Brigade Band.

EMOTION Demo at Kernsville Dam : On Saturday, August 25th, 2007: The people from EMOTION KAYAKS brought their current line of boats to the Kernsville Dam, on the Schuylkill River near Hamburg. The day was a very, hot, humid one with temps in the high 90's. This was a great way to spend the day and beat the heat. Note: These were taken with a Pentax Optio W10 waterproof camera that went into the river several times that day.

2007 Schuylkill County Women on Target : On Saturday, August 25th, the Friedensburg Fish & Game Association hosted the 2007 Schuylkill County Women on Target at their clubhouse in Wayne Township. The event was to educate females 18 and older to enjoy outdoor sports. Participants attended the sessions held by the Schuylkill County Sportsman Association with assistance from the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, The Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Pennsylvania Environmental Protection, and a grant from the National Rifle Association.” The sessions included canoeing, fishing, archery, filleting and fish frying. The shooting sessions were hands-on instruction to properly use pistols, rifles, shotguns and muzzleloaders. With the exception of Waterways Conservation Officer, Gary Slutter, who instructed the easy way to fillet and fry panfish, all the instructors were female and experts in their fields.

Drum & Bugle: Madison Scouts & Casper Troopers : Sunday, July 8th, 2007: The Madison Wisconsin Scouts and the Casper Wyoming Troopers thanked the Schuylkill County area for their generosity, housing, and other support with a Drum & Bugle presentation at Schuylkill Haven's Rotary Field. The Troopers were hosted by Schuylkill Haven. The Scouts were hosted by North Schuylkill. Pottsville Bicentennial Parade : The Pottsville Bicentennial Parade was held on Saturday, October 7th, 2006. It was one of the largest parades in recent history, 7 divisions, 102 units and over 2 hours long. I believe that there is at least 1 photo (some having several more) of each participating organization in the parade.

2006 Schuylkill Haven Borough Day : Schuylkill Haven Borough Day is an annual event that occurs on the last Saturday in September. It’s theme: “The little town that could.” The original celebration rejoiced upon saving the train station from demolition and restoring it to be used as Borough Hall. Since then, this event has grown to become a day where activities begin at dawn and end after dusk. It reflects upon a spirit upon people from many diverse backgrounds will often work together (as fire fighters, community service volunteers, etc.) to overcome any problem and make the community a better place. 2006 is the 18th year
