On Saturday, August 25th, the Friedensburg Fish & Game Association hosted the 2007 Schuylkill County Women on Target at their clubhouse in Wayne Township. The event was to educate females 18 and older to enjoy outdoor sports.

Participants attended the sessions held by the Schuylkill County Sportsman Association with assistance from the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission, The Pennsylvania Game Commission, Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Pennsylvania Environmental Protection, and a grant from the National Rifle Association.”

The sessions included canoeing, fishing, archery, filleting and fish frying. The shooting sessions were hands-on instruction to properly use pistols, rifles, shotguns and muzzleloaders.

With the exception of Waterways Conservation Officer, Gary Slutter, who instructed the easy way to fillet and fry panfish, all the instructors were female and experts in their fields.
